At our dental office, tooth extractions, or the removal of a tooth from the mouth, (called exodontia), is performed for a wide variety of reasons. The main causes for tooth extractions are: Sever tooth decay which deems the tooth to be un-repairable, or acute/ chronic alveolar abscess. Some other of causes are: extra teeth that block other teeth from coming in, preparation for orthodontic treatments like braces, teeth in the fracture line, or fractured teeth. Extractions of impacted or problematic wisdom teeth are also routinely performed depending varying on an as needed treatment.
